Sage Northcutt is starting to sound like the mixed martial arts (MMA) equivalent of Ned Flanders.
Despite a second-round submission loss to Bryan Barberena at the UFC on FOX 18 event last Saturday night (Jan. 30, 2016), which took place inside Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the "Super" lightweight (and part-time welterweight) was all smiles.
"Thank you all for the support this weekend and everybody that tuned in and watched," Northcutt wrote on Twitter. "I'll be back better than ever!"
The high-profile loss (replay here) was the first of his pro career and will likely come as satisfaction to those fighters who criticized the promotion's decision to pay Northcutt (7-1) $40,000 to show, especially now that his "Super" bubble was burst on the big stage.
