If you thought MMA had a problem with deducting points for low blows and other infractions... well you’re correct, but that doesn’t mean it’s worlds better in other combat sports. You’re about to see an egregious yet unpunished groin punch from Saturday night’s Showtime Championship Boxing undercard.
Cuban junior welterweight Rances Barthelemy (26-1-1 NC, 13 KOs) was on his way to a decision loss against Kiryl Relikh (22-2, 19 KOs), and Barthelemy had been whacking Relikh in his nether regions multiple times throughout the fight. Referee Luis Pabon had docked Barthelemy one point in round 7, but this obviously didn’t deter Barthelemy in the closing stages of the 12th and final round.
