It is safe to conclude that Japan’s MMA regulations are far more lax than that of the United States’. And it was once again evident during this weekend’s recently concluded Pancrase 290.
As seen in the video, Brazilian strawweight fighter Daniel Lima was getting ready to step onto the scales and weigh in for his fight against Daichi Kitakata. But his struggle to stand up and walk upright was apparent, as he was being propped up by two of his coaches all throughout the weigh-in procedure.
Lima spoke to MMA Fighting a couple of hours before the event on Sunday, revealing that he had to cut 16 pounds in two days to make the 115-pound limit.
