Nick Newell may not have gotten the UFC contract that he wanted, but he did shine in his first appearance under the Bellator MMA banner.
Newell (16-2), one of MMA’s most inspirational stories and obviously a very talented fighter, choked out Corey Browning in the opening round of their lightweight matchup at Bellator 225. He largely dominated Browning, who’s notably beaten Aaron Chalmers and “Baby Slice,” and it only took him just over three minutes to get the job done with the arm-triangle choke.

This was Newell’s second fight since losing a unanimous decision to Alex Munoz on Dana White’s Contender Series.
