The jiu-jitsu specialist took on Yoshiki Nakahara in his fifth professional bout in the preliminary portion of Friday’s ONE Championship: Enter the Dragon in Singapore, and needed less than a minute to come out victorious.
Making his featherweight debut (155 pounds), Tonon traded shots with Nakahara on the feet before shooting for a single leg and rolling for a heel hook. Nakahara, who entered the contest on an eight-fight winning steak, tapped instantly.
”I just got one thing to say, Garry Tonon is no longer a prospect in the sport of mixed martial arts,” Tonon said after the 55-second win.
