Opening up Saturday night’s Top Rank Boxing on ESPN card in Oklahoma City was a super-lightweight (140 lbs) bout between OKC’s own Alex Saucedo (28-0, 18 KOs) and former title challenger Lenny Zappavigna (37-4, 27 KOs) of Australia. This had potential to be a barnburner, and it delivered one of the bloodiest, most entertaining scraps of 2018.
Saucedo and Zappavigna wasted no time trading heavy leather, with Zappavigna cut in round 2, then knocked down in round 3, but Saucedo was getting tagged flush plenty of times along the way. It looked as if Saucedo was on his way towards victory, and then round 4 produced absolute chaos.
