Ben Askren was able to get the finish against Luis Santos. The win? Not so much.
That's because "Funky" accidentally eye poked his Brazilian foe in the first round of their welterweight title fight, which took place on Friday (April 24, 2015) in the main event of ONE: "Valor of Champions" inside the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines.
Referee Olivier Coste gave Santos five minutes to recover; however, the Brazilian insisted his vision was still impaired and the bout was waved off.
Expect a rematch in the very near future.
Askren is 2-0 under the ONE banner (14-0 overall) and finished four straight fights by way of knockout or submission prior to "Valor of Champions," which helped combat his label of "just a wrestler.
