Ary Farias became the Taura MMA interim bantamweight champion with a quick stoppage over Johnny Campbell in the co-main event of Friday’s Taura MMA 10 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but he didn’t use his high-level jiu-jitsu to secure the victory this time.
A two-time jiu-jitsu world champion as a black belt, Farias rocked Campbell off balance early and quickly took his back, landing an elbow that destroyed his opponent’s left ear. The referee saw the damage and immediately stopped the bout at the 25-second mark, awarding Farias the interim champion.
