Veteran lightweight competitor Matt Wiman is the latest fighter to be released from the UFC after he suffered a brutal knockout this past weekend in Las Vegas.
UFC officials confirmed the news to MMA Fighting on Wednesday. Combate first reported the news.
After first making his debut with the promotion back in 2006, Wiman amassed an impressive 10-5 record over 15 fights including wins over opponents such as Mac Danzig, Cole Miller, Thiago Tavares, Justin Buchholz and Isaac Vallie-Flagg.
Following his last win in 2014, Wiman went on a nearly five-year long hiatus from the sport before eventually making his return to action in 2019.
