Velasquez open to fighting in Mexico City again with different training regime

UFC 188 was the first time we saw Cain Velasquez unable to maintain his frenetic pace. The American Kickboxing Academy standout, who is renown for his tireless work ethic and endless cardio, was overwhelmed by Fabricio Werdum after running out of steam in the second round.

Velasquez started off strong, forcing Werdum against the cage and utilizing the dirty boxing that knocked Junior dos Santos off the top-spot in 2012. However, Velasquez soon began to tire and Werdum capitalized with his own pressure and eventually snagged a guillotine choke in the third round, relieving Cain of his championship duty.
