One week after UFC 264: Poirier vs. McGregor 3 is UFC Vegas 31 on July 17th. Unfortunately we aren’t getting Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez as was the plan for the night’s main event. Instead, lightweight contender Islam Makhachev gets bumped up to headliner status against Thiago Moises. This will be Makhachev’s first scheduled five-rounder in his UFC career.
The co-main event is the return of former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate from a five-year retirement, as she faces the soon-to-be retiring Marion Reneau. For perspective on how long Tate has been away from the sport, Conor McGregor won the UFC lightweight title against Eddie Alvarez a couple of hours after Tate’s loss to Raquel Pennington at UFC 205.
