On Saturday, Vettori doubled that number on his way to a one-sided victory over Kevin Holland in the main event of UFC Vegas 23. Vettori’s 11 successful takedowns in a single 185-pound UFC contest set a new UFC record. Before UFC Vegas 23 the record of 10 successful takedowns at middleweight was shared by Aaron Simpson and Bartosz Fabinski. Simpson put Mario Miranda on the mat 10 times in 2011 and Fabinski planted Garreth McLellan on 10 occasions during their 2015 scrap. Vettori landed his 11 takedowns on 17 shots.
