Five fighters received 180-day suspensions by the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) medical team following last Saturday’s UFC Sao Paulo, the commission announced Tuesday.
Thales Leites and Hector Lombard, who met in a middleweight bout at the Ibirapuera gymnasium, were given six-month medical suspensions after the 15-minute fight.
Lombard, who lost via unanimous decision, could return to action sooner if cleared by doctor of a potential orbital bone fracture. Leites, who retired with the win, needs clearance of left knee if he decides to come back in less than six months.
Luigi Vendramini, a victim of a brutal knockout by the hands of Elizeu Zaleski, can’t return before April 22 without clearance of an orthopedist.
