UFC releases former flyweight title challenger Ray Borg

After yet another last-minute cancellation, Ray Borg’s days in the UFC are over.

MMA Fighting confirmed that the former flyweight title challenger has been released from his contract after he withdrew from his scheduled bout vs. Nathan Maness. It remains unclear as to why he pulled out from the matchup.

Borg (13-5) has had a career negatively affected by injuries, poor weight cuts, and the health of his young son Anthony, who was diagnosed with a rare brain condition known as hydrocephalus. In June, Borg pulled out of a bout vs. Merab Dvalishvili because of his son’s health, but thankfully he did not require another surgery.
