The UFC has announced that BT Sport will continue to own the broadcast rights for the promotion in the U.K. and Ireland for 2019 and beyond.
The UFC’s European office announced the broadcast deal via press release Friday, following an initial report from the Guardian, which stated that the promotion triggered an exit clause from its previously announced broadcast deal with Eleven Sports. Eleven Sports was unable to secure a promised distribution deal via pay-TV platforms including Sky, Virgin Media and BT.
The Guardian also report that Eleven Sports’ U.K. office may be on the verge of closure due to the company’s failure to attract enough customers to the subscription service.
