There’s still unfinished business between UFC rivals Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier, as their last bout at UFC 214 was ruled a No Contest (NC) after ‘Bones’, the reigning light heavyweight champion, tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Prior to that, Jones beat Cormier via unanimous decision in a competitive championship bout at UFC 182.
Cormier has since moved back up to heavyweight and, since capturing the heavyweight title in 2018, there is renewed interest in seeing Jones move up a division to challenge ‘DC’ for the title.
Speaking to Laura Senko in a recent interview, UFC president Dana White said a trilogy bout between Jones and Cormier doesn’t necessarily have to happen but admits there’s a lot of pressure on both men to fight at heavyweight.
