The UFC Phoenix official weigh-ins have come and gone, and several fighters had trouble making weight. Renan Barao was one of three to miss weight, coming in at 138 lbs for his bantamweight bout vs. Luke Sanders. The former 135 lbs champion was 141.75 lbs for his most recent outing, a decision loss to Andre Ewell. He’s historically had problems cutting to bantamweight, including the weigh-in day cancellation of his planned UFC 177 rematch with T.J. Dillashaw back in 2014. Despite a brief trip to featherweight, Barao insisted on returning to the weight class where he once held UFC gold, and it’s been a disaster.
