Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez was one of 10 fighters to be issued an extended medical suspension in the aftermath of UFC Phoenix.
The Arizona Department of Gaming released the event’s finalized medical suspension report to MMA Fighting on Wednesday.
Velasquez suffered a 26-second TKO loss at the hands of Francis Ngannou in UFC Phoenix’s main event. To further compound matters, the Arizona native sustained a potential knee injury in the contest after being dropped with a short right uppercut. As a result of potential damage sustained in the contest, Velazsquez will be forced to seek medical clearance or sit out 180 days before returning to active competition, per Arizona commission officials.
