In one of the most important fights of his life, Chris Weidman finally got back on track.
The former UFC middleweight champion entered his main event fight against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC on FOX 25, which took place live from Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, N.Y., on Saturday, with his back up against the fence. He was on a three-fight skid — all three losses came by way of knockout or TKO — which started in December 2015 with a title loss to Luke Rockhold. Gastelum, on the other hand, didn’t have nearly as much to lose; he was fighting in enemy territory, was not on a skid going into the fight, and was physically the smaller man.
