The Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri was home to a pretty good night of fights, with three (T)KOs, three submissions, and seven decisions, including two split decisions. Performances of the Night: Robert Whittaker and Demetrious Johnson
Robert Whittaker came into tonight’s fight with Jacare as a 2-1 underdog, then immediately set about proving everyone wrong. The Australian has always had a wicked boxing game; some of the most technically sound and dynamic pugilism in mixed martial arts, but facing Souza, who as well as being one of the best grapplers to ever compete in MMA, is also bigger, stronger, and has much more experience than Whittaker, there was a question about whether or not Whittaker’s skillset would be enough.
