UFC bantamweight contenders Raphael Assuncao and John Dodson led a list of four fighters to receive potential 180-day medical suspensions in the aftermath of UFC Norfolk, according to information released to MMA Fighting on Tuesday by the Virginia Department of Professional & Occupational Regulation, which oversaw the event.
Assuncao scored a highlight-reel knockout over Matthew Lopez on the night’s main card, while Dodson lost a hard-fought split decision to Marlon Moraes in a featured bout. As a result of damage accrued from their respective fights, both Assuncao (right ankle) and Dodson (left hand) will be forced seek physician’s clearance on potential injuries or sit out six months before returning to active competition, per Virginia officials.
