The UFC Moncton weigh-ins wrapped up early Friday morning, with main event fighters Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith both on weight for their light heavyweight clash. In fact, everyone made weight except for Michael Johnson, who took his co-main event bout vs. Artem Lobov on short notice. The longtime lightweight who’s competed at featherweight in his last two outings came in at 147 lbs, one pound over the non-title limit.
Johnson vs. Lobov will go on as scheduled, but “The Menace” is forfeiting 20% of his purse to Lobov. In a great gesture, Lobov promised to give Johnson his money back since he accepted the matchup at the last-minute in place of Zubaira Tukhugov, who was yanked from this event due to his involvement in the UFC 229 brawl.
