After more than a decade of mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight slugger Sam Stout has retired.
"It has become clear to me that I am no longer able to compete at the highest level of mixed martial arts," Stout said in a prepared statement (via MMA Fighting). "I think my best days as a fighter are behind me and it would be a risk to my legacy and my health to continue competing."
Stout, 31, was recently knocked out by Frankie Perez, who also retired from combat sports, after their tussle at UFC Fight Night 74 (results here).
