Glover Teixeira mauled Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC Jacksonville on May 13, but received a medical suspension that initially is longer than his opponent’s.
Eight fighters were given 180-day medical suspensions by the Florida State Boxing Commission following Wednesday’s show in Jacksonville, including the victorious Brazilian light heavyweight.
“My (right) hand is a bit swollen and they asked for a X-ray,” Teixeira told MMA Fighting on Friday. “I hurt my hand in the third round, but I think it’s just a finger. I don’t think it’s serious. I’ll get the X-ray done next week, but I’m hoping it’s just a finger so I can come back quickly.
