Joe Silva’s retirement is finally official, and that means a shakeup in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s matchmaking department.
While Silva’s decision to step down as matchmaker was initially reported a few weeks back, the Las Vegas-based promotion on Tuesday confirmed that he will step down as senior vice president of talent relations at the end of 2016. Sean Shelby, who has been with the UFC for 14 years, will be promoted to Silva’s old position. Meanwhile, former Legacy Fighting Championship owner and president Mick Maynard has been hired by the UFC as vice president of talent relations.
