Ruslan Magomedov’s current stay on the sidelines may last longer than anticipated.
Magomedov was tapped for a potential doping violation resulting from an out-of-competition sample collected on Sept. 7, according to Ultimate Fighting Championship officials. The 29-year-old was scheduled to face Stefan Struve at UFC 204 in October before withdrawing with an injury. He has not competed since he defeated Shawn Jordan by unanimous decision at UFC 192 nearly a year ago.
“The UFC organization was notified that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Ruslan Magomedov of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection made on September 7, 2016,” the UFC wrote in an official statement.
