Rogerio Bontorin tested positive for a diuretic and will be forced to stay on the sidelines for some time, MMA Fighting has confirmed following a report from Combate.
According to the report, the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) found hydrochlorothiazide, a banned diuretic, in an out-of-competition sample from early May. A source on Bontorin’s team said they are working to prove it was caused by a tainted supplement, hoping to reduce his suspension to six months.
Bontorin last fought in May 15, winning a decision over Matt Schnell in a short-notice bantamweight bout.
