UFC 313 on Saturday featured a lightweight matchup between Ignacio Bahamondes (17-5) and Jalin Turner (14-9).
Turner had not submitted yet in his professional MMA career.
That changed against Bahamondes.
Bahamondes secured Turner in a triangle choke, and Turner, whose nickname is the “Tarantula,” was forced to tap out. This marked the first submission of Turner’s career.
Bahamondes continues his ascension in the 155-pound division, while Turner is already giving up his fighting future.
Following his loss to Bahamondes, Turner told the press that he was retiring and threw off his gloves.
Veteran MMA journalist John Morgan noted that Turner told him he’d been contemplating retirement since his loss in UFC 300 to Renato Moicano.
