It didn't go exactly according to plan but Derrick Lewis ended up getting the job done late, scoring a TKO victory over Shamil Abdurakhimov in the fourth round of their UFC Fight Night 102 main event fight Friday night in Albany. Lewis lost the first three rounds but in the fourth he secured a takedown, moved to mount, and pounded out the fifteenth-ranked Abdurakhimov.
After the fight, Lewis was candid about being unhappy with his showing and refused to call out anyone, saying he needed to "sit my ass down" after his performance, but the fact remains he's now won five in a row and owns the longest winning streak in the UFC heavyweight division which ensures he will get a step up in competition next, possibly against Francis Ngannou who put on an exceptional performance in the co-main event, submitting Anthony Hamilton with a kimura in the first round.
