Former Bellator lightweight champion received an indefinite medical suspension in the aftermath of UFC Fight Night 96, the Oregon State Athletic Commission (OSAC) announced this week.
Brooks is believed to have injured his rib early in his UFC Fight Night 96 contest against Alex Oliveira before succumbing to a third-round TKO at the hands of the Brazilian, who missed weight by 5.5 pounds. According to the OSAC, Brooks will be required to receive clearance from a physician before being allowed to return to active competition.
Aside from Brooks, six other fighters received medical suspensions stretching longer than two weeks: Tamdan McCrory (60 days), Cody East (45 days), John Lineker (30 days), Joachim Christensen (30 days), Jonathan Wilson (30 days), and Ion Cutelaba (28 days).
