Luke Sanders came into his UFC debut with an undefeated record and a low-profile.
The Tennessee native leaves Boston with the unbeaten record intact, but now far more people know his name.
Sanders improved to 12-0 with a first-round submission victory over veteran Maximo Blanco at UFC Fight Night 81 on Sunday. The time was 3:38.
In a fast-paced, back-and-forth round, Sanders found himself in early trouble, on the wrong end of a deep Blanco arm triangle.
But Sanders escaped. Soon thereafter, he followed up a missed right hand with a crushing left to the jaw.
