The Brasilia, Brazil native won for the fifth consecutive time Sunday night, as he outslugged Ross Pearson in a lightweight bout at Boston's TD Garden. Trinaldo earned the unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 81 with a pair of 30-27s from the judges and a 29-28.
The opening round was mostly a tentative affair, as both Trinaldo in particular seemed content to circle and counter as Pearson stalked. Toward the end of the round, though, Trinaldo landed heavy shots, and he punctuated the round with a big slam in the closing seconds.
The second round was a clear-cut call in Trinaldo's favor, as he hunted Pearson down and punished him along the fence, landing big punches and several knees in the clinch.
