The 19-year-old lightweight from the Houston area won for the second time just over two months on Thursday night, as he shook off a slow start and benefited from a questionable call against Colorado's Cody Pfister.
Northcutt improved to 7-0 with seven finishes as he used a guillotine choke to submit Pfister 41 seconds into the second round of their UFC Fight Night 80 bout at The Cosmpolitan in Las Vegas.
Pfister appeared to be well in control of the first round as he scored a takedown early and maintained top position. He never came remotely close to finishing Northcutt, but he was clearly working when referee Mark Smith made a highly debatable call for a standup.
