Things did not go smoothly on the scales ahead of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s debut in Belem, Brazil.
Friday at early weigh-ins in advance of UFC Fight Night 125, three main card fighters missed their contracted marks, including first-time headliner Eryk Anders, who checked in at 187.9 pounds for his scheduled middleweight contest with former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida, who tipped the beam at 186 pounds.
According to a report by MMAJunkie, the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) told media members that the 10-0 Anders was given an additional hour to make weight after approval was given by Machida and on-site doctors.
