Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, who captured the crown by annihilating Miesha Tate at the UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) event back in July, took home the 2016 Equality Visibility Award last Saturday night (Sept. 17, 2016) at the annual Equality California Awards in Los Angeles.
"When people find out how strong and powerful love is, then this world will be a better place," Nunes said in her acceptance speech, helpfully transcribed by MMA Fighting.
"I want to see this happen one day. I'm going to do everything I can to support this community with a positive presence by sharing my love and showing everyone that I'm happy.
