Nate Diaz returns to the Octagon on Saturday, three years removed from his epic UFC 202 showdown with Conor McGregor. Diaz lost that fight by majority decision, but we’d have almost certainly never seen a rematch had Nate pulled off the stunning short notice upset over the Irish superstar back at UFC 196.
If you don’t remember the story, McGregor was scheduled to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title on that March evening. Instead, RDA pulled out with an injury, and in stepped Diaz. We were treated to amazing fight promotion in such a condensed period of time, and the fight itself ruled.
