The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns with some highly anticipated and fun bouts this weekend. One intriguing aspect of these contests is that the main event for a UFC PPV is a women’s MMA title fight.
Brawling for the World Strawweight Title, on a three-fight winning streak, ‘Thug’ Rose Namajunas, the “Current Best Female Strawweight” defending her title, whose last loss was to Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 201 on the 30th of August, way back in 2016, she now has a 8-3-0 record. ‘Thug’ Rose hasn’t fought since April of 2018 when she defeated Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the second consecutive time and defended the UFC Women’s Strawweight Championship, but she will make her second attempt at defending that title in the main event against Jéssica “Bate Estaca” (aka: ‘Pile Driver’) Andrade also on a three fight-winning streak and listed “Second Current Best Female Strawweight” right after Rose, last decimating Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC 228 via Punch at 1:58 in round 1, and she comes at this fight with a longer professional record of 19-6-0; TONIGHT (May 11, 2019), at the highly anticipated UFC 237 PPV event on ESPN+ from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
