Dustin Poirier was scheduled to do battle with Nate Diaz last November at UFC 230, but ‘The Diamond’ was forced to withdraw from the bout due to injury.
Speaking to ESPN in a recent interview, however, Poirier, who will challenge Max Holloway for the interim lightweight title at the upcoming UFC 236 PPV on April 13, said he made the decision to pull out after being messed around by a non-committal Diaz.
“I had a hip injury that I was training through, and then when he kept playing around, playing games, and [the UFC] started talking about replacement opponents and stuff, then we were like ‘ok, let’s go get this hip fixed,’” Poirier said, per BJPenn.
