UFC 218 Takes Big Hit, Frankie Edgar Out

Combate first reported the news, which has since been confirmed by ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto.

Edgar was slated to challenge featherweight champion Max Holloway in the show’s featured attraction.

As of now, it is believed the UFC is hoping to keep Holloway in the December 2 event against a different opponent.

Because Edgar’s injury is presently unknown, no timetable has been set for his return.

This would have marked the ninth time in Edgar’s past 16 outings that he’s fought with UFC gold on the line.

Holloway is arguably MMA’s hottest fighter having rattled off 11 straight victories en route to capturing the interim hardware.
