It wasn’t all that long ago that Henry Cejudo got a shot at longtime UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson.
But Saturday night, the Olympic wrestling gold medalist made his case for another crack at the champ.
Cejudo (12-2) scored a one-sided win over fellow leading flyweight contender Sergio Pettis on Saturday night at UFC 218, using his wrestling to bully his foe en route to a unanimous decision. The judges’ scores were 30-27 across the board at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena.
Cejudo, who spent half the fight in top position, set the tone in the opening round by pushing the pace and never letting Pettis get untracked.
