In the co-main event of UFC 218, Francis Ngannou cemented himself as a legitimate force in the heavyweight division with an unreal first-round wipeout of Alistair Overeem. Ngannou improves to 6-0 in the UFC, with all six wins coming by knockout or submission. Barring something completely unforeseen, we are going to see Ngannou take on heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic for the title in 2018.
Overeem charged forward with a left hook right away, then shot for a takedown. Ngannou had Overeem’s back against the fence, and a stalemate ensued in the clinch, so the referee separated them. Overeem threw a sloppy left hand, and Ngannou responded by destroying Overeem with one of the hardest left hANDSprobably ever thrown in the history of human civilization.
