UFC 213 medical suspensions: Robert Whittaker, Anthony Pettis potentially out six months

Newly crowned UFC interim middleweight champion Robert Whittaker headlined a list of four fighters to receive potential six-month medical suspensions in the aftermath of UFC 213, according to information released Wednesday by the Nevada Athletic Commission.

Whittaker overcame an early knee injury to rally back and defeat Romero via unanimous decision in the night’s championship main event. As a result, Whittaker will be forced to sit out a minimum of six months or seek orthopedic clearance on his left knee if he wishes to come back sooner, per NAC officials.

The three other fighters who received similar potential six-month suspensions were: Curtis Blaydes (right tibia/fibula and left chest rib series), Anthony Pettis (right hand), and Travis Browne (left foot).
