At UFC 209, Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight king Tyron Woodley retained his title for a second time over Stephen Thompson, but he wasn't the card's highest earner.
After their close and contentious majority draw at UFC 205 last November, Woodley earned the close nod this time, taking a majority decision over “Wonderboy.” Monday, the Nevada Athletic Commission released the UFC 209 payouts, revealing that the “The Chosen One” netted $500,000, including a $100,000 win bonus for the victory. Thompson earned $380,000 and his win bonus would have been $180,000.
Despite his main event status, Woodley was the third highest earner on the card.
