Two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson received a 30-day medical suspension in the aftermath of his loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC 209, according to information released Monday by the Nevada Athletic Commission to MMA Fighting.
Thompson suffered a controversial majority decision loss to Woodley, marking the second time in five months that “Wonderboy” has fallen short in his pursuit of the UFC welterweight title.
Thompson will now be required to sit out 30 days due to damage sustained during the bout. Woodley, meanwhile, did not receive a suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission.
