UFC 196 just went from a disappointing pay-per-view offering to a high-end cable television card.
UFC President Dana White on Tuesday informed Yahoo Sports that the Feb. 6 event will air on Fox Sports 1 instead of pay-per-view after the heavyweight championship headliner was removed from the bill due to multiple injuries.
A heavyweight title rematch between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez was initially scheduled to headline UFC 196, but on Sunday Velasquez withdrew from the contest, citing a back injury. Stipe Miocic was quickly tabbed to take the American Kickboxing Academy product’s place, but Werdum pulled out the next day due to a back ailment of his own, leaving the card with no suitable fill-in for the main event.
