UFC 196 goes from PPV to FS1 with Hendricks vs. Thompson headliner

It looks like the UFC has been forced to make a major shift at UFC 196 after the cancellation of a planned heavyweight bout between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez.

In something of an unprecedented move, the UFC is is cancelling a PPV, but not a fight card. In the past, when major PPV main events have fallen apart, the world's leading MMA promotion has gone one of two directions: Either keep the event on PPV and hope that the UFC brand carries it without a major headliner, or cancel the card altogether and re-book the fights asap.
