It is only two days into 2016, yet Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit may already have locked up Fight of the Year gold.
Lawler edged Condit in an instant classic on Saturday night at UFC 195, defending his UFC welterweight title with one of the most visceral displays of tenacity and aggression the MMA world has seen since his July war of attrition with Rory MacDonald.
It all came down to the third round, and ultimately two of the three cageside judges scored it for Lawler, giving his power the nod over Condit's volume. Not all of Lawler's fellow fighters agreed though, and the scorecards on Twitter were all over the board, as can be seen below.
