Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez (13-2), after nearly two years on the injured reserves, made his return to mixed martial arts (MMA) in the UFC 188 pay-per-view (PPV) main event last night (Sat., June 13, 2015) in Mexico City, Mexico.
And it was an unmitigated disaster.
While the now ex-champ tried to set his usual blistering pace, one that felled even the most seasoned opponents, going balls-to-the-wall at a merciless 7,380 feet above sea level emptied his tank in round one. Add to that a couple of cuts to his head and face and what started as a heavyweight title fight quickly devolved into a game of Mexican Duck Hunt.
