UFC 188 injuries and medical suspensions: Fabricio Werdum, Eddie Alvarez facing six-month sits

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently tied a ribbon around its UFC 188: "Velasquez vs. Werdum" pay-per-view (PPV) mixed martial arts (MMA) event, which took place last Saturday night (June 13, 2015) inside Arena Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.

There were no survivors, at least on the suspension front, as all 22 competitors were hit with mandatory seven-day suspensions.

In addition, a handful of combatants were issued lengthier suspensions depending on the injuries sustained during last weekend's event, which UFC then provided directly to mixedmartialarts.com. In the absence of an athletic commission, UFC acts as its own governing body.
