John Dodson and Zack Makovsky each entered their UFC 187 preliminary headlining bout in Las Vegas on Saturday night looking to earn a shot at flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
Dodson entered the fight on a two-fight streak, having last lost to Johnson in 2013. His only issue was that it had been nearly a year since he last fought, having been sidelined with a torn left anterior cruciate ligament.
Makovsky’s lone loss in the Octagon was to highly ranked John Moraga late last year. Aside from that unanimous decision loss, he was 5-1 in his last six fights.
